A man was walking through an elephant camp and to his surprise he observed that the elephants were not caged or chained, still they did not move much from their respective stations.

He wondered why the elephants don’t just use their strength and leave the camp. Curious, he asked the caretaker to answer his question. The caretaker said, “The elephants feel that they are tied so they do not try to leave the camp.”

Puzzled, he looked closely and noticed that every elephant had a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. The caretaker continued, “When the elephants were young, they were tied using a similar rope, which was enough to stop them from moving around freely then and even today after becoming bigger and stronger, their mind still believes that the rope stops them.”
